National Park Initatives for businesses

The South Downs National Park Authority supports several business initiatives that help the local economy, the environment and your business.

These schemes are tried-and-trusted routes to valuable markets, already used by hundreds of businesses across the South Downs National Park (SDNP).

You don’t have to make a big investment to get involved. Depending on the scheme, benefits to your business could include free listings, access to new audiences or a longer tourism season. You decide how much effort you want to devote to each scheme you choose to join. Sometimes, just a few tweaks make a big difference.

The South Downs National Park Shared Identity

Join other businesses, partners and communities in weaving your business’s voice into the story of the SDNP. Together, you give the SDNP an identity all of its own.

The free shared identity includes graphics, fonts, photography and support with telling the story of the UK’s newest National Park.

When you use the shared identity, you announce that your business is proud to be part of the National Park. In return, your business benefits from being associated with the SDNP. Using it can enhance your own website, messaging and brand.

Dark Skies Welcome

The Dark Skies Welcome scheme helps you attract a share of the increasing numbers of visitors who want to experience the night skies. The star-studded skies overhead are as valuable as the beautiful rolling landscapes of the South Downs below.

In 2016 the South Downs National Park became the world’s 13th International Dark Sky Reserve, positioning it as a great destination for dark skies activities, such as stargazing, astrophotography, night-time wildlife walks and nocturnal navigation.

The SDNP even runs a Dark Skies Festival, which, along with dedicated Dark Skies events, helps to extend the tourism season during the winter and spring seasons when the dark nights are longer.
And no, you don’t need to know your Orion’s Belt from your Big Dipper to join!
