Support your National Park

Support the National Park

The future of the South Downs National Park is looked after by the South Downs National Park Trust, the National Park’s independent, official charity – and you can help.

Businesses are a 'Force for Good' and vital to the present and future of the South Downs National Park. Whether through; food production, making space for nature, contributing towards water quality and healthy soils, providing great places to visit, stay or eat you contribute immeasurably to the South Downs National Park.

We at the South Downs National Park Authority are truly grateful for all you do but we recognise that some businesses wish to forge closer ties to the South Downs National Park and to have ways of communicating those links to stakeholders. That's why the Trust has a number of initiatives, worked up by environmental experts, National Park rangers, local communities and partners to do just that. These projects benefit everyone who lives, works and visits here.

Join the Visitor Giving Scheme

If you're a local tourism and hospitality business, you can join the Trust's Visitor Giving Scheme. Visitor giving is a simple way of inviting voluntary donations from visitors, inspiring them to give something back to the places they've fallen in love with.

As a local tourism and hospitality business, you're perfectly placed to collect any contributions your customers may feel moved to give after they've experienced the National Park through your business.

The Trust's ambition is to raise £2 from each visitor to the South Downs National Park. This will go towards vital projects which will improve visitors' experiences for years to come.

The Visitor Giving Scheme is creative and flexible. It's not one-size-fits all approach. See our fact sheet below for more information or contact Visitor Giving to discuss the best way to incorporate visitor giving into your business.

Donate for Nature

The South Downs National Park is home to incredibly beautiful and rare habitats and wildlife.

Our chalk grassland has up to 40 species per square metre and our lowland heath is rarer than rainforest and home to all our native reptiles and amphibians. But even here, nature is under pressure, and it needs our help.

Currently 25% of the South Downs National Park is managed for nature. The South Downs National Park Authority wants to increase this to 33% by 2030 - that's an extra 13,000 hectares, the equivalent of around 21,000 new football pitches.

To do this, they need to raise £100million to achieve their ambitions to support both large and small nature recovery projects across the National Park, on farmland and in communities.

Your direct support is vital to their success. Please donate what you can to help.
